Gently Yonder is a small, independent editorial project. We publish layered guides that combine historical, cultural, and practical preparation — the kind of writing a curious traveler might bring along for the train ride into a new city.
What we publish
- City & neighborhood guides — layered histories of places, written for first-time visitors who want to understand what they are walking through.
- Travel preparation guides — practical content on eSIM setup, carry-on packing, airport security, hotel booking choices, and trip-day essentials.
- Comparison & analysis — honest comparisons of travel services and platforms, with our editorial criteria spelled out.
- Free tools — a personalised trip checklist generator and other small utilities.
Editorial mission
Most travel content rewards consumption: lists, deals, and aesthetic spectacle. Gently Yonder is built for the opposite reader — someone who wants to know where they are, who lived there before, what was lost, what survives, and how to visit with care.
We believe meaningful travel begins with understanding. Every guide should help the reader plan, but also help them see the place differently — to notice the layered city beneath the visible one.
Our full editorial standards are documented in our Editorial Guidelines — including how we handle sensitive history, citation requirements, and what we will and will not publish.
How we work
Editorial process
Every article is researched, drafted, edited, fact-checked, and reviewed before publication. Historical claims require primary or academic sources. Practical information is verified against current government, airline, or platform documentation at the time of publication.
AI assistance, disclosed
Gently Yonder uses AI tools as part of the editorial process — for research synthesis, draft generation, and structural editing. Every published article is reviewed and edited by a human editor against our editorial guidelines. We do not publish unedited AI output, and we do not invent personal experiences.
We disclose this because honesty is one of our core editorial principles, and because we believe readers deserve to know how the content they read was produced.
What we do not do
- We do not publish content we have not edited.
- We do not invent personal experiences ("I tried this restaurant" when we have not).
- We do not write content for the algorithm at the expense of the reader.
- We do not place affiliate links inside historical, memorial, or trauma-related sections.
- We do not use sweeping cultural generalisations or banned vocabulary like "hidden gem", "must-see", or "magical".
Affiliate disclosure
Gently Yonder participates in affiliate programs including the Amazon Associates Program, Awin, and direct partnerships with travel platforms. When you click an affiliate link and complete a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
Affiliate revenue helps fund our editorial work. Our editorial decisions are not influenced by affiliate relationships. We do not place affiliate links inside historical or sensitive-history sections. Disclosure appears at the bottom of every article that contains affiliate links.
