Coachella is held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, and the festival’s own hotel and shuttle site gives its 2027 dates as 9 to 11 April and 16 to 18 April. If you are working out where to stay for Coachella, two things shape the bill. The first is the hotel tax: each Coachella Valley city sets its own, from 10% to 13.5% in the cities whose pages we could read, and hotels of 50 or more rooms also sit inside a 3% district assessment. The second is the route, because the festival says its shuttle stops range from about 5 to 25 miles from the polo grounds, so the area you pick sets the length of every ride.

Coachella 2027: what is confirmed and what is not

Hotel packages The festival’s hotel site sells packages that combine a pass, a hotel stay and shuttle passes. Weekend 1 packages check in on Friday 9 April (three nights) or Thursday 8 April (four nights) and check out on Monday 12 April; Weekend 2 uses 16 and 15 April and checks out on Monday 19 April. They are non-refundable, with transfers open until Monday 1 March, and most partner hotels require the primary guest to be 21 or over.

The shuttle details come from the 2027 pages of the festival’s hotel site. Check coachella.com in the spring, because the lots and rules are the part most likely to change.

Getting in from the airports

Coachella Valley hotel taxes in 2026

Each city sets its own rate, and the polo grounds, the hotels and the airport are spread across them:

The 3% is the Greater Palm Springs Tourism Business Improvement District, which Visit Greater Palm Springs describes as an assessment on the gross short-term room revenue of hotels with 50 rooms or more, for stays of 27 days or less. It is an assessment on the hotel, not a tax, and the pages we read do not say whether a hotel must list it as a line on your bill, so ask. Cathedral City has no hotel in this guide, and its rate is listed because the city’s own page was readable. We left out Indian Wells, which also has shuttle stops, to keep to the five areas.

Many hotels add a daily resort fee or charge for parking, and those are in the hotel’s own terms, not the tax. The JW Marriott Desert Springs lists a daily resort fee of $45 plus tax.

Indio: the polo grounds’ own city

Indio is where the festival is, and its hotels are the closest to the gates after La Quinta’s. The Hampton Inn & Suites is a stop on the 2027 shuttle list, which makes it the most practical Indio base without a car. The tax is 13% or 10%, depending on hotel size, and the festival’s hotel page lists the Fairfield 6.1 miles from the festival.

La Quinta: the shortest trip

La Quinta gives the shortest trip on the festival’s own count: La Quinta Resort & Club is listed at 5.3 miles. Two hotels here are shuttle stops, and the resort is also an LAX shuttle location. The hotel tax is 10% or 11%, and a 3% assessment applies to hotels of 50 or more rooms.

Palm Desert: resorts and a stop on the shuttle

Palm Desert is further out, at 10.2 to 13.3 miles on the festival’s hotel list for the three hotels below, and it is where the big golf resorts are. Its shuttle stops include the JW Marriott, the Hampton Inn and the Courtyard and Residence Inn, so the extra distance can be a shuttle ride rather than a drive. We could confirm 11% only from the city’s page for short-term rentals, and its hotel rate is not confirmed here.

Where to stay in Palm Desert

Rancho Mirage: space and three shuttle stops

Rancho Mirage sits between Palm Desert and Palm Springs, with the Omni at 13.9 miles and the Westin at 17.2 on the festival’s hotel list. All three hotels below are shuttle stops, so it works for a group that wants a big resort and does not mind a long ride. We could not open the city’s tax page, so its hotel tax is not confirmed here; ask the hotel for the total.

Palm Springs: the town, and a long ride

Palm Springs is the furthest, at 24.8 and 24.9 miles for the two hotels the festival lists, and a shuttle stop at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Choose it when the weekend is also a Palm Springs trip. The city’s hotel tax is 11.5%, or 13.5% for group meeting hotels, and its page does not say which hotels are group meeting hotels.

The Coachella Shuttle runs from 1PM to 8PM to the festival, with return service ending 60 minutes after the music ends, and its pass is $150 on coachella.com's passes page as checked on 30 October 2026. Rideshare pick-up in 2026 was at Avenue 49 and Monroe Street, with the longest waits between 12am and 2:30am. The shuttle is not guaranteed to stop at your specific hotel.

How much is the hotel tax in the Coachella Valley?

It depends on the city. Indio charges 13% for hotels under 50 rooms and 10% for hotels of 50 or more, La Quinta 10% or 11%, Palm Springs 11.5% or 13.5% and Cathedral City 12%. Hotels of 50 or more rooms also sit inside a 3% Greater Palm Springs district assessment. We could not confirm Rancho Mirage's hotel rate or Palm Desert's from the cities' own pages. On a $300 room our arithmetic gives $337.50 to $349.50 a night in the cities we could confirm.

Do hotels near Coachella require a minimum stay?

None of the hotel pages we read lists a festival-weekend minimum, so ask in writing. The festival's own hotel packages are three nights from Friday or four nights from Thursday, with check-out on the Monday, and they are sold as non-refundable. Most partner hotels require the primary guest to be 21 or over.

Which hotels are Coachella shuttle stops?

The 2027 list includes Hampton Inn & Suites Indio, La Quinta Resort & Club, Embassy Suites La Quinta, JW Marriott Desert Springs, Hampton Inn & Suites Palm Desert, Omni Rancho Las Palmas, Agua Caliente Casino Rancho Mirage, Westin Rancho Mirage and the Palm Springs Convention Center, among others.
