The Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco runs from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 June 2027 on the Automobile Club de Monaco’s calendar, and the hotel bill depends on which side of a border you sleep. Monaco charges its own tourist contribution, set hotel by hotel in a ministerial order, while Beausoleil, Cap-d’Ail, Menton and Nice charge the French taxe de séjour, on three different grids that each include a 34% regional surcharge.

This guide covers six areas, 12 hotels, the dates and ticket channels as the Automobile Club and Formula 1 publish them, and the train links. The 2027 race-weekend train plan was not out in early November 2026, so we label what ran in 2026. The hotels are researched picks, chosen for location, what each property publishes and consistent guest feedback, and each was checked as operating in early November 2026. No hotel pays to appear here.

The short answer

If you want… Stay in Why
to be in the middle of it and pay for it Monte-Carlo The Hôtel de Paris sits on Place du Casino and the Fairmont names the hairpin on its own page
a Monaco address without the top price La Condamine and Fontvieille A boutique two-star near Port Hercule and a 181-room hotel in Fontvieille
to walk into Monaco from France Beausoleil Two hotels that say they are 300 m from the Casino, on the French side of the border
a quieter coast stop a few minutes away Cap-d’Ail A three-star with a sea-view terrace, next to Monaco
a resort town on the Italian border Menton A four-star with a pool and a grand hotel on the Promenade du Soleil
the most choice and the train home Nice Two hotels near Nice-Ville, about 23 minutes by train from Monaco

The 2027 dates: what is published

Both official sources have published the 2027 race. Formula 1’s calendar lists the Monaco Grand Prix as round 8, on 4 to 6 June. The Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) gives 3 to 6 June for the 84th edition, so its weekend starts on the Thursday, with Formula 2, Formula 3 and the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup also on track. The two describe the same event: Formula 1 lists only its own sessions, from Friday.

The big change is the format. The ACM says Monaco will host a sprint weekend for the first time, with two qualifying sessions and two races. Formula 1 marks every start time as still to be confirmed.

What When
ACM event dates Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 June 2027
Formula 1 sessions Friday 4 to Sunday 6 June, times to be confirmed
Friday 4 June, per the ACM Free practice, then a first qualifying session that sets the sprint grid
Saturday 5 June, per the ACM The sprint from midday, then qualifying in the afternoon
Sunday 6 June The 84th race
Tickets On sale since the ACM’s article of 1 October 2026

Tickets. The ACM’s ticketing article names three official routes: the monaco-grandprix.com site, the official Monaco Grand Prix app, and the ACM ticket office at 44 rue Grimaldi, open Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00. The ticket page lists a Weekend Pass for Saturday and Sunday, a Grand Prix Pass for Friday to Sunday, and hospitality offers. We did not read prices or availability, so check the page itself. We give no resale advice: buy from those channels, and fix your nights once you know which days you hold.

Tourist tax and the hotel bill

Monaco. Monaco’s contribution touristique is set per hotel, per person and per night, by ministerial order. The latest order we could verify is Arrêté Ministériel 2024-72 of 5 February 2024, published in the Journal de Monaco on 9 February 2024. We found no later order, so treat these as the last published amounts and ask the hotel to confirm. For the five Monaco hotels in this guide:

Hotel Stars in the order Amount, per person per night
Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo 5 €7
Fairmont Monte Carlo 4 €5
Novotel Monte-Carlo 3 €3
Columbus Hotel Monte-Carlo 3 €3
Hôtel de France 2 €2

France. The French towns around Monaco each set their own grid, and each includes the 34% regional surcharge for the Ligne Nouvelle Provence Côte d’Azur. Cap-d’Ail is one of the 51 communes of the Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur, so it follows Nice’s grid, which the Métropole’s portal says stays the same in 2027. Menton’s and Beausoleil’s posters give rates in force from 1 January 2026, and we did not see 2027 figures for either town. Per person, per night:

Hotel category Nice and Cap-d’Ail Menton Beausoleil
Palace €6.43 €6.57 €5.36
5-star €4.69 €4.82 €4.02
4-star €3.48 €3.48 €3.08
3-star €2.28 €2.28 €2.01
2-star €1.34 €1.34 €1.21
1-star €1.07 €1.07 €1.07

A worked example, our arithmetic and not an official figure. Two adults, four nights from Thursday 3 to Monday 7 June, at the rates above:

Hotel Category Per person per night Four nights, two adults
Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo 5-star, Monaco €7 €56
Fairmont Monte Carlo 4-star, Monaco €5 €40
Hotel Capitole 3-star, Beausoleil €2.01 €16.08
Splendid Hôtel & Spa 4-star, Nice €3.48 €27.84

The tax is a small part of a race-weekend bill, so use it as a tie-breaker. Monaco’s government says its VAT is levied on the same basis and at the same rate as in France; we found no hotel-specific VAT line, so compare the final total at checkout.

Getting in and around

The train is the link that matters. Monaco’s tourist office says there are around sixty round trips a day between Nice and Monaco, with a journey time of 23 minutes, and that regional trains serving Monaco Monte-Carlo station do not require a reservation. The station is underground. The ACM’s page for the 2025 race said the station exits are close to the access points to the public grandstands.

Link What the official source says
Nice to Monaco by train Around sixty round trips a day, journey time 23 minutes, no reservation needed on regional trains
Nice airport to the city The airport lists tram line 2 to the centre in under 30 minutes
Nice airport to Monaco The airport lists a ZOU! intercity bus 80, Monaco to Menton, at the Terminal 2 coach station; the page gives no fare or time
Nice airport by rail A direct link with Nice Saint-Augustin station, from where you continue to Monaco Monte-Carlo

What ran in 2026. The 2027 race-weekend train plan had not been published by early November. For the 2026 race, Riviera Radio reported on 3 June that SNCF Voyageurs and Sud Azur said most regional trains serving Monaco would run in long formation, that train frequency would not change, and that the last trains from Monaco to Nice and Menton would leave between 1am and 2am on Friday and Saturday nights, with Sunday finishing slightly earlier. The same report gave a Grand Prix Pass at €10 a day between Nice and Monaco, and a wider Alpes-Maritimes pass at €20. These are 2026 figures from a news report, so treat any 2027 version as unannounced.

Not found. We found no official 2027 road-closure plan, airport bus or helicopter schedule, or operator page for extra trains. Read the ACM’s practical information again nearer the date.

Monte-Carlo: the Casino and the hairpin

Monte-Carlo is the centre of the circuit and of the price list. The Hôtel de Paris describes itself as in the heart of Place du Casino, and the Fairmont’s page lists a Grand Prix Suite and talks of the iconic Fairmont Hairpin turn. The Novotel is the plainer option, a few minutes’ walk from the train station and Casino Square, according to its own site.

How the hotel links work: a hotel’s name goes to its own website. “Check rates” opens it on Booking.com through our partner Stay22, which pays us a commission if you book, at no extra cost to you.

La Condamine and Fontvieille: Monaco without the palace rates

La Condamine is the low ground around Port Hercule, and Fontvieille is the newer district to the west. Both are inside Monaco, so the Monaco contribution applies. For the 2025 race the ACM’s page said the event shuttle stopped on Avenue Albert II in Fontvieille, with a further 15-minute walk to the circuit, so Fontvieille is at the edge of the action; that is a 2025 detail.

Beausoleil: the French side, 300 m from the Casino

Beausoleil sits on the hillside directly above Monte-Carlo, in France. Its tax grid is the town’s own and is lower than Monaco’s. Two hotels here publish a distance to the Casino, and both put it at 300 m.

Where to stay in Beausoleil

Cap-d’Ail: a quiet stop next to Monaco

Cap-d’Ail is the next commune west of Monaco and part of the Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur, so Nice’s tax grid applies. The hotel here describes itself as just a few minutes from the Principality.

Where to stay in Cap-d’Ail

Menton: the border resort

Menton is the last French town before the Italian border, which the Royal Westminster’s page describes as a few minutes away. We have no official Menton to Monaco journey time, so check a journey planner. Menton’s grid matches Nice’s at the three- and four-star levels.

Nice: the train base

Nice has the most hotels, and the cost is the commute: about 23 minutes each way by train, plus whatever the race-day crowds add. The two hotels below sit near Nice-Ville station. For every Nice area and the tax in detail, see where to stay in Nice.

Before you go

Sort out mobile data first (the best eSIM for Europe), and consider cover for a trip with tickets and flights in it (best travel insurance). If you are linking the Riviera with other cities by train, read is a rail pass worth it in Europe; the Nice Carnival guide covers the same coast in February.

Frequently asked questions

When is the Monaco Grand Prix in 2027?

Formula 1's calendar lists the Monaco Grand Prix as round 8, on 4 to 6 June 2027. The Automobile Club de Monaco gives 3 to 6 June for the 84th edition, so its weekend starts on the Thursday. 2027 is Monaco's first sprint weekend, and Formula 1 lists every session time as still to be confirmed.

Where is the best place to stay for the Monaco Grand Prix?

Monte-Carlo puts you beside the Casino and the circuit at the highest prices. Beausoleil, on the French side, has hotels that say they are 300 m from the Casino. Menton, Cap-d'Ail and Nice are cheaper bases that depend on the train, which takes about 23 minutes between Nice and Monaco.

How do you buy Monaco Grand Prix tickets?

The Automobile Club de Monaco names three official routes: the monaco-grandprix.com site, the official Monaco Grand Prix app, and its ticket office at 44 rue Grimaldi, open Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00. The ticket page lists a Weekend Pass, a Grand Prix Pass and hospitality offers. We did not read prices or availability.

Is there a hotel tax in Monaco?

Yes. Monaco's contribution touristique is set hotel by hotel, per person and per night. The latest order we could verify, of 5 February 2024, sets 7 euros at the Hôtel de Paris, 5 euros at the Fairmont, 3 euros at the Novotel and Columbus and 2 euros at the Hôtel de France. We found no later order.

Is the tourist tax lower in Beausoleil, Menton or Nice?

Per person per night, a four-star pays 3.48 euros in Nice and Menton and 3.08 euros in Beausoleil, against 5 euros at the Fairmont in Monaco. A three-star pays 2.28 euros in Nice and Menton and 2.01 euros in Beausoleil. Those French rates include a 34% regional surcharge and are for 2026.

How do you get from Nice to Monaco for the Grand Prix?

Monaco's tourist office says there are around sixty round trips a day between Nice and Monaco, taking 23 minutes, with no reservation needed on regional trains. The 2027 race-weekend train plan had not been published; in 2026, trains ran longer and later, with the last trains leaving Monaco between 1am and 2am on Friday and Saturday nights.
