Da Nang’s hotel bill is not just the price on the screen. Some hotels quote rates with “++”, meaning tax and service charge are added at the end, and the tax that matters is VAT: 8% on most goods and services until 31 December 2026, then 10% unless the reduction is extended. Where you stay decides the rest. The beaches, the river and Hoi An’s Ancient Town are spread over roughly 30 km, and since 1 July 2025 all of it sits inside one enlarged Da Nang, after Quang Nam province was merged into the city.

This guide covers six areas, 12 hotels, the airport links, the Hoi An Ancient Town ticket and how VAT works on a bill. The hotels are researched picks, chosen for location, what each property publishes and consistent guest feedback, and each was checked as operating in October 2026. No hotel pays to appear here.

VAT, the Hoi An ticket and the price on your bill

Vietnam’s VAT is normally 10%. Under Resolution 204/2025/QH15 the National Assembly cut it by two points, to 8%, for goods and services that are otherwise taxed at 10%, from 1 July 2025 to 31 December 2026. The reduction does not apply to telecommunications, finance, banking, securities, insurance, real estate, metal products, mining products other than coal, or goods that carry excise tax. Accommodation is not among the exclusions in those reports, but we could not read the decree’s appendices, so check the rate on your bill.

Charge What the official sources say
VAT, standard rate 10%
VAT, temporary reduced rate 8%, from 1 July 2025 to 31 December 2026
Service charge Not set out in the sources above; each hotel states its own
Hoi An Ancient Town ticket 80,000 VND, or 120,000 VND for a wider choice of sites; valid for up to three days

The ticket is a separate charge, set out in a notice from the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Center dated 29 January 2026. Both tickets cover the Ancient Town’s general landscape and one monument, either the Japanese Covered Bridge or Quan Cong Temple. The 80,000 VND ticket adds two sites of your choice; the 120,000 VND ticket adds one museum-system site and three more. Children under 16 are exempt, and the notice gives no separate rate by nationality.

The Little Hoi An Group lists its rooms on its own sites with “USD++” after the price, shorthand for a rate before tax and service charge. Other hotels do not say whether the price includes them, so read the line at the booking step.

Here is the arithmetic, which is ours and not a rule. Take a room at 2,500,000 VND a night. VAT at 8% adds 200,000. A service charge of 5%, assumed because hotels set their own, adds another 125,000. The bill comes to 2,825,000 VND, 13% above the quoted rate; with VAT at 10% from 1 January 2027 it would be 2,875,000 VND. Two adults buying the 120,000 VND ticket add 240,000 VND once for the stay.

Getting in from the airport, and around

Da Nang’s airport is Da Nang International, code DAD. Its own page lists these public buses:

My Khe: the beach strip

Diamond Sea’s site calls it the “iconic My Khe Beach”, and both hotels below have addresses on Vo Nguyen Giap Street. With the airport 4 km away by Haian’s count, it is the easiest beach to combine with the city.

How the hotel links work: a hotel’s name goes to its own website. “Check rates” opens it on Booking.com through our partner Stay22, which pays us a commission if you book, at no extra cost to you.

The Han River and city centre: the Dragon Bridge and Han Market

The Novotel describes itself as on the west bank of the Han River, and Brilliant sits on the same street, Bach Dang. The Novotel gives Han Market as 1 km away, the Cham Museum as 2 km and the river as a three-minute walk. The beach is a drive: 4.4 km and 11 minutes, by its page.

Son Tra Peninsula: one resort on its own bay

Son Tra is one destination rather than a neighbourhood. The InterContinental says its 39 hectares lie in the Son Tra Peninsula Nature Reserve, overlooking Bai Bac Bay and a 700-metre beach.

Non Nuoc and the south beach: resorts by the Marble Mountains

Both resorts below give Ngu Hanh Son Ward as their address, and Ngu Hanh Son is also the district that holds the Marble Mountains, according to Hoiana’s guide. The five limestone and marble hills lie about 9 km south of the city centre and 20 km north of Hoi An, near Non Nuoc Beach.

Hoi An Ancient Town: lantern-lit streets on foot

Hoi An Ancient Town is entered with the ticket above, and the walking hours shape the evening. Hoi An hotels now print “Danang” in their addresses; the Little Oasis and Allegro sites read “Hoi An, Danang”. The Hoi An Historic Hotel describes the Ancient Town’s streets as lantern-lit.

An Bang and Cua Dai: beaches outside the town

Both resorts below are beach hotels outside the Ancient Town. Sol An Bang gives its distance to the Ancient Town as 4 km, and Victoria describes its resort as set between Cua Dai Beach and the De Vong River.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Da Nang for a first trip?

My Khe suits a first trip: beach hotels on Vo Nguyen Giap Street, with Haian Beach putting the airport 4 km away. Choose the Han River and city centre for Bach Dang Street hotels and Han Market, Son Tra for one resort on its own bay, and Hoi An Ancient Town or An Bang for the old streets and a quieter beach.

How much VAT is added to a hotel bill in Da Nang?

Vietnam's VAT is normally 10%, cut to 8% for goods and services otherwise taxed at 10% from 1 July 2025 to 31 December 2026. Accommodation is not among the exclusions in the reports we read, but check the rate on your bill. Some hotels add a service charge, and each sets its own. On a 2,500,000 VND room, 8% VAT and an assumed 5% service charge make 2,825,000 VND.

How much is the Hoi An Ancient Town ticket?

The Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Center's notice of 29 January 2026 lists two tickets: 80,000 VND, which covers the general landscape, one monument (the Japanese Covered Bridge or Quan Cong Temple) and two sites of your choice, and 120,000 VND, which adds one museum-system site and three more. It is valid for up to three days, children under 16 are exempt, and the notice gives no separate rate by nationality.

How do you get from Da Nang Airport to Hoi An?

The airport lists Hai Van Bus, a suburban route to Hoi An ending at the Cua Dai parking lot, at 120,000 VND a trip, daily from 7:30 to 16:00. Danabus routes 12 and 06 serve the city for 8,000 VND and 15,000 to 22,000 VND. Taxis run on the meter, with an access fee of 10,000 to 30,000 VND that may apply, and only some companies take cards.

How far is Hoi An from Da Nang?

The Novotel Danang Premier Han River's page gives the drive from its Han River address to Hoi An Ancient Town as 29.6 km, 46 minutes. Hoiana's guide puts the Marble Mountains about 9 km south of Da Nang city centre and 20 km north of Hoi An.

Should you stay in Hoi An Ancient Town or on the beach?

Stay in the Ancient Town for its streets on foot: the heritage centre sets walking and cycling hours of 9:00 to 21:30 in summer and 9:00 to 21:00 in winter. Choose An Bang or Cua Dai for a beach; Sol An Bang gives its distance to the Ancient Town as 4 km, and Victoria's site gives no travel time, so ask the hotel.
