In Rome, the historic center is compact but layered. To make your sightseeing stress-free, prioritize hotels near these key zones:

Trastevere is Rome's most beloved neighborhood for its atmosphere. You are on the west bank of the Tiber, surrounded by ivy-clad buildings, artisan shops, and restaurants that have served locals for generations. It is connected to the center via several tram lines.

Centro Storico is where you find the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Trevi Fountain, and countless layers of history. It is one of Rome's most walkable neighbourhoods, filled with pedestrian streets and outdoor cafes.

Vatican area: spiritual and quiet

The Vatican area is where you find the Vatican Museums, St. Peter's Basilica, and the Castel Sant'Angelo. It is one of Rome's most peaceful neighbourhoods, filled with wide avenues and residential streets, while still being incredibly close to the city's spiritual heart.

Monti is Rome's hip, artisan neighborhood. It is home to vintage shops, wine bars, and the Chiesa di Santa Francesca Romana. It's the best area for those who find Trastevere too touristy and want to see where artisans and young Romans actually hang out.
