Seville adds no tourist tax to a hotel bill in November 2026, and in 2027 it holds its two biggest festivals within three weeks of each other. The Consejo de Hermandades, which runs Holy Week, lists Palm Sunday as 21 March 2027, so Holy Week runs to Easter Sunday on 28 March. The city’s tourist office gives the April Fair as 13 to 18 April. The hotel question differs: in Holy Week you want to be near the processions’ route, and for the Fair you want an easy way to the fairground in Los Remedios, across the river.

This guide covers what the official sources had published in November 2026, six areas, 12 hotels and the tax. For the rest of your trip, where to stay in Seville covers five areas and 12 hotels, 10 of which also appear here. The hotels are researched picks, chosen for location, what each property publishes and consistent guest feedback, and each was checked as operating in November 2026. No hotel pays to appear here.

21 to 28 March, and 13 to 18 April: what the official sources say

When What Where
Sunday 14 March The Pregón, the Holy Week proclamation Listed on the Consejo’s calendar
Sunday 21 March Palm Sunday, which opens Holy Week The Consejo’s calendar; the order of passage for nine Palm Sunday brotherhoods is published
Night of 25 to 26 March The Madrugá, the night from Holy Thursday to Good Friday Our arithmetic from Easter Sunday on 28 March
Sunday 28 March Easter Sunday Our arithmetic: the Sunday after Palm Sunday
Tuesday 13 to Sunday 18 April The April Fair, Feria de Abril The Real de la Feria, in Los Remedios

The Fair’s dates come from Visita Sevilla, the city’s tourist office, and its Feria guide dated September 2026, which says the Fair “usually begins two weeks after Holy Week and lasts for six days, from Tuesday to Sunday”. It opens on the night of the alumbrao, when the lights are switched on, and ends with fireworks over the Guadalquivir.

The Carrera Oficial. The city’s Holy Week guide describes a fixed route that the brotherhoods follow to the Cathedral: from Plaza de la Campana along Calle Sierpes and through Plaza de San Francisco to Avenida de la Constitución, entering the Cathedral by the San Miguel door and leaving by the Palos door onto Plaza Virgen de los Reyes. Chairs along it are rented for the week or by the day, at prices that vary by place and day of the week.

The Madrugá. The 2026 guide lists six brotherhoods for the Madrugá: El Silencio, Gran Poder, La Macarena, El Calvario, Esperanza de Triana and Los Gitanos, setting out from churches that include San Antonio Abad on Calle Alfonso XII, the Gran Poder basilica, the Macarena basilica and the Capilla de los Marineros on Calle Pureza. The 2027 timetables were not yet published, so treat that as last year’s pattern.

What the bill includes: no tourist tax, 10% VAT

No tourist tax is in force in Seville or anywhere in Andalusia as we write. The Junta de Andalucía’s own list of the region’s taxes names an ecological tax, a tax on customer deposits in credit institutions, a single-use plastic bag tax and an improvement levy, and none is a tax on tourist stays.

Charge In Seville, November 2026
Tourist tax None in force
VAT (IVA) on hospitality services, which include hotels 10%, Spain’s reduced rate
Spain’s standard VAT rate, for comparison 21%

A proposal is not a law. On 5 August 2026 Seville’s mayor said he would ask the Junta’s tourism councillor for a tourist tax, and the press reported on 18 September that he raised it again; the Junta has the last word, and until it publishes a rule nothing changes on your bill. As our arithmetic: four nights at €200 before VAT cost 4 × €200 × 1.10 = €880, with no tourist tax added. Barcelona charges a tourist tax and Madrid does not.

Getting in from the airport, and around

Santa Cruz: beside the Cathedral

Santa Cruz was Seville’s Jewish quarter until the expulsion of 1492, and its winding streets have survived. The tourist office calls it a high-traffic area and asks visitors to respect residents. The Cathedral, which the brotherhoods of the week walk to, is a few minutes’ walk. None of the three hotels below mentions Holy Week or the Fair on its page, so ask each about minimum stays in writing.

How the hotel links work: a hotel’s name goes to its own website. “Check rates” opens it on Booking.com through our partner Stay22, which pays us a commission if you book, at no extra cost to you.

Centro: Plaza Nueva and the Cathedral

Plaza Nueva is home to the City Hall, and the Sierpes and Tetuán streets run from it through the city’s busiest shopping area. Plaza de San Francisco, on the Carrera Oficial, is beside the City Hall, so these hotels are the closest on our list to the official route. The cost is crowds at the door.

El Arenal: the river and the bullring

Towards the river, El Arenal was the city’s main port in the Middle Ages; the Torre del Oro, the Hospital de la Caridad and the Maestranza bullring are here. The Feria guide lists the 2027 bullfighting season beside the Fair.

Triana: across the river

Triana, on the far bank of the Guadalquivir, began as a suburb outside the walls and is known as the home of potters, sailors and flamenco artists. For Holy Week it has its own brotherhood: the Esperanza de Triana, one of the six of the Madrugá, sets out from the Capilla de los Marineros on Calle Pureza.

Los Remedios: the fairground side

The Fair moved to Los Remedios in the 1970s, to a once-unused open area; the city’s guide calls it a small ephemeral town of casetas, the tents where people eat, drink and dance, on streets named after bullfighters. Many casetas are private, and the city runs a public one, the Caseta de Sevilla at Calle Pascual Márquez 225 to 229, where tables must be booked in advance. The guide puts the horse parade from noon.

Nervión: trains, the airport bus and lower prices

Santa Justa station is in Nervión, east of the historic centre. The airport bus stops here, and one hotel counts a 15-minute walk to the old town. It is not the old quarter, but it is the easiest base for an early train on a day away from the crowds.

Frequently asked questions

When is Holy Week in Seville in 2027?

The Consejo de Hermandades' calendar lists the Pregón on 14 March and Palm Sunday on 21 March 2027, so Holy Week runs to Easter Sunday on 28 March. The Madrugá, the night from Holy Thursday to Good Friday, falls on 25 to 26 March. Only the Palm Sunday order of passage had been published in November 2026; the day-by-day timetables had not.

When is the April Fair in Seville in 2027?

Visita Sevilla, the city's tourist office, gives the 2027 Feria de Abril as Tuesday 13 to Sunday 18 April. Its guide says the Fair usually begins two weeks after Holy Week and lasts six days, Tuesday to Sunday, and is held at the Real de la Feria in Los Remedios.

Where is the best place to stay for Holy Week and the April Fair in Seville?

For Holy Week, Santa Cruz and the streets around Plaza Nueva and the Cathedral are closest to the Carrera Oficial, and Hotel Bécquer in El Arenal says processions pass its entrance. Triana has its own Madrugá brotherhood, Los Remedios is the fairground side, and Nervión is for trains and the airport bus.

Is there a tourist tax in Seville?

No tourist tax is in force in Seville or anywhere in Andalusia as we write. The Junta de Andalucía's list of its own taxes names none on tourist stays, and the mayor's request for one, reported in August and September 2026, needs the Junta's approval. VAT on hospitality services is 10%.

Do Seville hotels have minimum stays for Holy Week and the Fair?

None of the 12 hotels in this guide publishes a Holy Week or Fair minimum stay or package on a page we could read. Hotel Bécquer has a Holy Week page and a Fair section without terms, Eurostars Guadalquivir charges €35 a night for parking in those weeks against €23 otherwise, and Catalonia Santa Justa's pool is closed until 31 March, so ask before you book.

How do you get from Seville airport to the centre during Holy Week or the Fair?

TUSSAM's line EA costs €6 single and €8 return according to Aena, sold on board by bank card or at the airport stop. The fixed taxi fare is €26 on weekday days and €29 at other times, and Aena says the higher tariff applies in Holy Week from 07:00 to 21:00 and during the Fair from 07:00 to 20:00.
