Masters week is the one week when Augusta’s hotel question is mostly a question of where you will be on the road at 6 a.m. In 2027 the tournament is played from Monday 5 to Sunday 11 April, and the city’s own tourism body warns that the week brings increased demand for lodging, dining and transportation. The bill has its own quirks too: Georgia adds a flat $5 state fee per night on top of sales tax and a local lodging tax, and the cheaper bases across the river in South Carolina are taxed under a different system.

This guide covers what Augusta National and the Augusta tourism office have published for 2027, six areas (Washington Road, Downtown and Summerville, the I-20 side towards Evans and Martinez, North Augusta in South Carolina, and Aiken), 12 hotels, and the taxes. The hotels are researched picks, chosen for location, what each property publishes and consistent guest feedback, and each was checked as operating in November 2026. No hotel pays to appear here.

The 2027 Masters: dates, gates and tickets

Augusta National’s patron page lists Monday 5 April as the first practice round, says Monday to Wednesday are practice round days, and says tournament rounds begin on Thursday 8 April, running to Sunday 11 April. The Augusta tourism office’s Masters page gives the same span, April 5-11, 2027. The Par 3 Contest is not on the pages we read, so we have not given a date for it.

For the Monday practice round, the patron page lists these times; check masters.com for the other days, because the schedule can change in bad weather:

On tickets, the official ticket page says the application process for 2027 is closed and all 2027 tickets have been allocated. It also says Augusta National is the only authorised source of Masters tickets, and that the resale of any Masters ticket is strictly prohibited, with holders of tickets acquired from third parties possibly excluded from attendance. Applications for 2028 are listed as open from 1 June to 20 June, with payments in late July. We give no advice on buying tickets elsewhere.

Hotel and home bookings are separate. The patron page sends hotel and motel enquiries to the Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau on 706-823-6600, and private home reservations to the Masters Housing Bureau on 706-821-1300. The tourism office lists vacation rentals among its Masters week options, describing them as offering added space, privacy and flexibility. We have no rental prices from an official source, so we give none.

Getting to the course, and parking

Free Masters parking is provided on a first-come, first-served basis, according to Augusta National. The tourism office says it is along Berckmans Road between the North and South Gates, with more than 8,500 free spaces, and that lots fill quickly on peak days and close once capacity is reached. It adds that other parking along corridors such as Washington Road typically costs $40-60 and does not accept cards, so bring cash.

If you would rather not park, the official pages place a rideshare lot at 2800 Washington Road and a taxi lot at 2740 Washington Road, both within a short walk of the North Gate, and say a rideshare request to the club defaults the drop-off to the right lot. Some hotels and private operators run shuttles during the week, but the tourism office says availability varies, so confirm with the hotel.

On flying, Augusta National names Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) as the closest airport, with Atlanta, Columbia and Charlotte all within 160 miles. It says Delta will run its largest-ever Augusta schedule for 2027, with up to 20 direct flights daily during the tournament. The tourism office says AGS has daily flights through Delta and American Airlines, and that many area hotels offer an airport shuttle. We found no official fare table, so we quote none.

Washington Road is where the tournament’s own logistics sit: the rideshare and taxi lots, and the stretch of private parking that charges $40-60. Augusta’s tourism office says some hotels along the corridor are within walking or short rideshare distance, while others need a drive, and that travel times depend on traffic and the day. The three hotels below are on Washington Road or just off it at Stevens Creek Road, and none publishes a walking time to the gate that we could confirm, so check a live map.

Downtown and Summerville: restaurants, a river walk and history

Augusta National’s patron page points visitors to the city’s Historic District and to the scenic Riverwalk along the Savannah River. The tourism office describes downtown as a place of walkable dining and live music, and Summerville, also known as The Hill, as a charming residential area. A downtown hotel puts the evenings first; the price is a drive to the course every morning and a longer one after the round.

Where to stay in Downtown and Summerville

The I-20 side: towards Martinez and Evans

Evans and Martinez are in Columbia County, to the west of Augusta. We did not find a hotel in either town that we could verify on its own official site for this guide. The three hotels below are on the I-20 side of Augusta instead, two of them at the same exit, and each has an Augusta address on its own site. Ask any hotel here which county its taxes follow, because the Columbia County rates in the tax section below differ from Augusta’s.

Where to stay on the I-20 side

North Augusta, South Carolina: across the river

North Augusta sits on the South Carolina bank of the Savannah River, facing downtown Augusta. A stay here means a different tax system, described below, and a drive across the river on Tournament mornings. The Crowne Plaza describes Riverside Village as a walkable river neighbourhood, and the Holiday Inn Express sits at I-20 exit 5.

Where to stay in North Augusta

Aiken, South Carolina: a calmer base

Aiken is a separate small city in South Carolina, with its own historic downtown. We did not verify a drive time from Aiken to Augusta National from an official source, so check live traffic for the week; the Aiken hotels below say nothing about distance either.

Augusta hotel taxes in 2027: Georgia, Columbia County and South Carolina

Charge Augusta (Richmond County), Georgia Columbia County, Georgia Aiken and North Augusta, South Carolina
Sales tax, including the state share 9% 8% 9% on accommodations
Local lodging or hotel-motel tax 8% per Destination Augusta 5% Local taxes collected by the city or county are not in this table
State hotel-motel fee $5.00 per night $5.00 per night None found

The Georgia Department of Revenue’s general rate chart, effective 1 October 2026, lists Richmond County at 9% and Columbia County at 8%, with the 4% state rate included in each. Georgia also requires innkeepers to collect a $5.00 per night state hotel-motel fee from guests, and the Department says online marketplaces collect it for short-term rentals booked through them. On the local lodging tax, the sources differ. Destination Augusta says its funding comes from a portion of the local 8% lodging tax, and a state law passed in 2025 authorised Augusta-Richmond County to levy up to 8%. The state’s own list of hotel-motel tax rates, last updated in August 2025, still showed 6% for Augusta and 5% for Columbia County. We use 8% for Augusta, and you should look for the rate on your hotel’s final price. Neither list showed a separate entry for Evans or Martinez.

On the South Carolina side, the state Department of Revenue’s rate chart lists North Augusta in Aiken County and the city of Aiken at 9% for accommodations. It says that local taxes collected directly by counties or municipalities are not included, so a hotel’s total can be higher.

A worked example, which is our arithmetic and assumes both Georgia taxes apply to the room charge with the fee itemised separately: a $250 room for one night in Augusta is $22.50 in sales tax at 9%, $20.00 in lodging tax at 8%, and the $5.00 fee, for $297.50. Four nights come to $1,190.00. If the lodging tax were 6%, the same night would be $292.50. We could not confirm from each hotel’s own site how it itemises these, so read the total at the payment step.

Can I still get Masters tickets for 2027?

The official ticket page says the application process for 2027 is closed and all 2027 tickets have been allocated. Augusta National is the only authorised seller, and resale of any Masters ticket is strictly prohibited. Applications for 2028 are listed as open from 1 June to 20 June.

Is parking at the Masters free?

Augusta National says free parking is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Other parking along Washington Road typically costs $40-60 and does not accept cards.

What are the hotel taxes in Augusta during the Masters?

In Augusta, the Georgia Department of Revenue lists Richmond County sales tax at 9% from 1 October 2026, and Georgia adds a $5.00 per night state hotel-motel fee. Is it worth staying in North Augusta or Aiken?

They are options in South Carolina with a different tax system, and they need a drive on Tournament mornings. Washington Road is the closest area: Augusta's tourism office calls the corridor one of the most popular for Masters visitors, and the rideshare and taxi lots are on it. Downtown and Summerville suit evenings out, the I-20 side suits interstate access, and North Augusta and Aiken are across the state line. Book early and ask each hotel for its Masters week terms.
